Arua Technical Institute - Ragem Technical Institute celebrated its annual Thanksgiving Day on Wednesday, 3rd December 2025, an event that also coincided with the Feast of St. Francis Xavier. The celebration was graced by the Rt. Rev. Sabino Ocan Odoki, who served as the main celebrant of the day.

In his address, Bishop Sabino expressed gratitude to the institute's leadership for prioritizing both academic excellence and spiritual growth. He encouraged students preparing for their final examinations to remain focused, disciplined, and prayerful. The Bishop emphasized that the purpose of his visit was to bless the school community, acknowledging the important roles played by the Principal, Chaplain, Parish Priest, and the entire management team in organizing the celebration.

Preaching on the message of Advent, he described the season as one of hope, drawing on the prophet Isaiah's promise of God's banquet, healing, and restoration. He reminded the community that gathering in thanksgiving strengthens their spiritual preparation for the coming of Christ. The Bishop highlighted the values of trust, sharing, and generosity, noting that God multiplies even the smallest offering. He urged students to use their material, spiritual, and intellectual gifts to support one another and to grow into innovative job creators rather than job seekers.

St. Francis Xavier (1506-1552), one of the first Jesuits, is remembered as one of the greatest missionaries in Church history. From Spain to India, Japan, and beyond, he preached the Gospel with courage, compassion, and tireless dedication. His work revived struggling Christian communities, opened new missions, and inspired thousands across Asia. Honored as the "Apostle of the Indies" and "Apostle of Japan," his legacy continues to shape schools, churches, and missionary efforts worldwide.
