Ragem Parish (Arua Diocese) - The Catholic Parish of Ragem in Arua Diocese was the site of spiritual celebration as Christians gathered for the official diocesan inauguration of the Legion of Mary Curia.

The Eucharistic celebration was presided over by Bishop Sabino, marking an important moment in the spiritual journey and growth of the association in the Parish and the Diocese at large.

Bishop Sabino praised the dedication of the Legion of Mary members for drawing inspiration from the life of the Blessed Virgin Mary, whom he described as the first disciple of Christ. "We learn so much from Mother Mary; her devotion, prayerfulness, and obedience to God's will. If we want to receive God's blessings, we must follow her example," the bishop said.

While reflecting on the revival of the association, the bishop acknowledged that the association had been struggling when he first arrived in Arua. "When I came here, the Legion of Mary was not very active. A few members approached me for support. Today's celebration is a sign that its roots have deepened" he noted joyfully.

He extended his gratitude to all who played a part in rejuvenating the association, with special mention to the chaplain and lay members whose efforts breathed new life into the organization. "Now, I can confidently say the Legion of Mary is alive in Arua Diocese, " he added.

Drawing from the Acts of the Apostles in the day's first reading, Bishop Sabino reminded the faithful that Christian life is not free from suffering. "Following Christ comes with challenges; rejection, persecution, and hardship," he said. "If our Lord suffered, and if the apostles were persecuted, who are we to expect a different path? But their perseverance bore fruits; today, we are Christians because they endured."

Bishop Sabino shared special blessings he brought from two very important spiritual journeys. In February of 2025, he traveled to Rome during the Jubilee Year for security personnel, where he had a rare audience with the late Pope Francis just days before the pontiff's hospitalization. "I was among the last bishops to receive his blessing, and I bring it to you," he said. After Easter, despite concerns over the ongoing conflict in Isreal, the bishop visited the Holy Land, returning safely with blessings from Nazareth, the home of Mother Mary.

Bishop called on to the Christians to seek Christ amid the moral and spiritual crises facing the world today. "We live in a world of conflict, pain, and hatred even where there is no active war, there is inner war. But through Christ and the example of Mary, we learn to love, forgive, and live in peace," he said.
